School No Fun!

"So, how many homeworks you have today?"

"8."

"How many done?"

"4 more to go, with a spelling tomorrow and a dictation on Friday."

"How are you doing today?"

Face slammed to the pillow on the floor... "T...i...r....e...d...."

Thats the usual conversation little Paul and I have everyday after school.

6, 7, sometimes 10 homeworks per day. Thats what little Paul is having everyday. Today, he cried over the tiredness of having to do so many work. Although he's more on the sensitive side, but still, is this how our education system deal with our kids? And, today, he brought a time table for examination through out the year, which the 1st exam will start on 13th February, 5 days before Chinese New Year. (WTF!!) That means he has to start studying the not-so-familiar words. 22 days into the new year, and he has to worried bout doing good in his exam.

What's wrong with the teachers, school and the Ministry of Education itself? Or perhaps what's wrong with our students nowadays? Why are we resulting on total dependence of homework and examinations to groom our students? A glimpse over the TV set just now, there was a kid who refuse to go to school after she was not able to finish the homework her teacher gave. The word "school" send shivers down her spine.

While we (the older generation.. ehm hm..) were learning how to spell "Apple" in standard 3, kids nowadays has to cope with writing sentence and short essays. And who can forget the endless demands from the school and their teachers, and of course the endless homeworks. While we can still enjoy some cartoons after school, children today are bound to their study table and chair with the whole stack of homeworks need to be pass up the next day.

In conclusion, schools are no F-U-N anymore!

hey... u can change tat. :) life's just like that. What to do.

Perhaps there's a way of de-stressing for kids like Paul.

I think all the kids I know are stressed out with all that. Even my home tuition student.

For me, there are too many things that I want to do now. Need to find out some direction which I can follow.

Random...

Just went up to Doulos wiv Mum, Paul and Kenny. The last time I went was around 15 year ago. But there weren't Mum, Paul or even Kenny. I was there with Leonard and Dad. Suddenly i missed the old times so much where Dad and Leonard is still around at home. Things have changed alot. Same ship, different companions, different feelings. Life has come a long way for me, and perhaps for everyone that i know. Crossroads

Life is about choices.. Choices about how you want to run your life, what principles that you hold, what career you are heading in the future. Perhaps, now is a time where tough choices are ahead for me. Both family and friends have their own saying about what is the best. So, what's the best for me?
